GIMP, the free photo manipulation and image authoring tool is very likely the most well known in the free software world. Can we consider it to be a replacement for Photoshop? One of the recurrent critic is related to the missing of CMYK support, the calorimetric model used for printing , which would make it unsuitable for professional work. In this conference we will show you how a good knowledge of the graphical workflow, of the task to be accomplished at each step and of the physical constraints lead to think that it’s not the GIMP’s job to manage CMYK.
