Résumé
Traditionally, telecom is a very closed area, yet it has a lot of influence on our daily life. This is going to change soon. Projects like OpenBTS, Osmocom/OpenBSC and similar are quickly developing open-source software to replace proprietary unreliable solutions. Our project UmTRX pushes the line further and offers an open hardware for GSM base stations. With potential to extend it to 3G and 4G standards as well.
We will walk through existing open-source software and its features and then talk about the UmTRX open hardware project.
