The most critical component for an Open Source broadcast environment is in development right now : the hardware !
In this presentation, Darren Star will explain how open source hardware is developed, how it benefits from community feedback and why it is well-positioned to meet everybody’s needs.
Darren will illustrate his presentaiton with a real-world SDI/ASI solution, that was created by the Open Source community and includes everything, from schematics and board production files to HDL and drivers - all open source.
Biographie
Darren R. Starr was involved in the release of one of the earliest Open Source broadcast projects : the DVB Multiplexer Tools found on SourceForge. Having worked in post production (Novio AS), broadcast (T-Vips) and professional video conferencing technologies (Tandberg/Cisco), Darren has developped much of the audio and VBI processing technology used for broadcast - likely for approximately 5% of all European contribution video.
