LDAP directories are deployed in numerous organizations and host lots of essentials data of the company : contact employees, list of services and structures, groups and mailing lists, etc.. The challenge then lies in the publication and administration of these informations. In most cases, the way to access to these informations are not easy to use (address book mail client, specific pages on an intranet) and often only in consultation, data modification is left to facility operations team or delegated to synchronization through connectors.
The availability of an application for directory management, allowing the release of all information and delegation of administration, becomes indispensable in the information system.
LINAGORA has been developing for several years a Java framework named LinID Directory Manager to enable the development of such applications. This framework is free, technology-based Spring and Tapestry 5. It supports the following aspects:
- Managing Permissions: the rights of read/write the attributes are defined by rules, based on the relationship between the author of the action and the target entry, and calculated for each operation
- Definition of functional objects: an enriched diagram allows to label the set of attributes (with internationalization support) and set their display in the interface (dropdown list, AJAX field, etc.).
This conference will present a demo application detailing some parts of code, which will include the main features offered by this framework.
